Job description

Ventia is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to join our team on a casual basis working full-time hours at our Ventia Workshop within BlueScope Steel, Port Kembla. This is a hands-on role suited to a safety-focused professional with strong industrial coating experience.

What Ventia Offers

You will be responsible for surface preparation, application of industrial coatings, and quality inspections of painted components within a workshop environment. Work will be performed in accordance with project specifications, WHS requirements, and Ventia's high safety standards.

  • Longterm Casual role and potential for permanent opportunity
  • Monday to Friday | 6.00am - 2.30pm
  • Hourly rate: $47.18 per hour + Super + overtime

Key Responsibilities

  • Surface preparation including cleaning, abrasive blasting, and preparation of metal and concrete substrates
  • Application of primers, paints, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment
  • Visual inspections and basic quality control checks to ensure coating compliance
  • Maintain painting tools and equipment in good working condition
  • Adhere to site safety procedures, including PPE, hazardous material handling, and permit systems
  • Ensure correct disposal of waste materials in line with environmental requirements
  • Complete required job, safety, and timesheet documentation

About You

  • Trade qualified - Minimum Certificate III in Painting or Surface Preparation & Coating Application
  • Proven experience in industrial painting
  • Airless spraying experience essential
  • Experience with coating inspections / QC (NACE qualification highly regarded)
  • Forklift licence preferred
  • Strong safety focus and ability to work in an industrial workshop environment
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and able to commit to full-time hours on a casual basis
