About You & the Role
Skout Solutions is looking for a Leading hand to join Ventia's contract team based out of Stapylton to deliver pavement, drainage and civil works. In this hands‑on leadership role, you will supervise civil works on site, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and ensure the safe, high‑quality and efficient delivery of works. You'll play a key role in driving site performance, mentoring team members, and supporting continuous improvement across the program. Occasional night or weekend work may be required but is rare and you will be working around 10-11 hours per day Monday to friday expected for the duration of the current works over the next 12 months. The engagement is temporary in nature and aligned to current project and contract requirements. There may be a possibility for permanent work beyond this date.
Key responsibilities include
- Promoting a strong safety culture through pre‑starts, toolboxes, and HSEQ checks
- Working collaboratively with Ventia, TMR, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
- Providing daily leadership and mentoring to work crews
- Championing best‑for‑network asset management practices
- Oversee QA and conformance activities, including ITPs and checklists
- Planning and scheduling works to meet deadlines, production targets, and budgets
- Managing two‑week look‑ahead programs and completing daily site reporting
Skills & Experience
To be successful, you will bring strong civil construction experience and team leadership capability, along with:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Current driver's licence (HR preferred)
- Construction White Card
- Solid understanding of TMR specifications
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Strong planning, communication, and time‑management skills
- Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
- Confident computer skills
Desirable but not essential
- Certificate IV Civil Construction Supervision
- Traffic Management Implementation Card
- Certificate IV Training & Assessing
- Plant tickets (excavator, roller, skid steer)
