About the Project:

GCI Solutions is a 50:50 unincorporated joint venture between leading water services providers Downer and Ventia. The highly skilled team has been appointed by the City of Gold Coast (City) to collaboratively supply asset lifecycle delivery services across the city's water and sewerage networks over the next 10 years.

About the Role:

The GCIS Team are recruiting a Electrical Construction Project Engineer with Water industry experience to help a team of engineers and site supervisor's drive construction delivery on water, wastewater, and recycled water projects. Based on sites around the Gold Coast (site office in Bundall) you'll report to the Project Manager and be responsible for delivering technical knowledge, guidance, and support to the Operations team for renewal projects and minor capital works initiatives.

This role will be 4 days in the office and 1 working from home. There will be occasional site travel requirement in Pool vehicle. The role will be for a 3 Month period on a temporary contract arrangement with the possibility to go permanent. The successful candidate will need to reside locally.

Primary Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Operations Delivery teams to successfully execute complex, multi-disciplinary projects by: Offering technical guidance. Preparing comprehensive project documentation, including detailed technical reports. Assisting with on-site coordination of project-related activities. Track and report on project progress, identify challenges, and implement effective solutions to meet performance objectives.
  • Contribute to the design phase by: Participating in Safety in Design reviews to ensure practical, cost-effective outcomes. Overseeing timely completion and approval of construction drawings. Verifying designs against budget constraints and documenting accordingly. Integrating community, environmental, operational, and maintenance considerations into planning and design. Conducting ongoing constructability and value engineering assessments. Prepare safety evaluation reports for review by the Zero Harm team.

  • Support estimating and project control activities by: Assisting with budget prep. Contributing to project methodology and procurement strategies, and liaising with subcontractors and suppliers. Delivering accurate cost reports and forecasts in line with project timelines.

  • Perform additional tasks within your area of expertise to support business needs.

What's required:

  • Atleast 2+ years' Construction experience as a Project Engineer mainly in the Water industry
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
  • Experience delivering self-perform D&C projects
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and developing their agreements.
  • Experience with developing scope of works
  • Financial reporting and budgeting experience
  • Proven ability to prepare and manage schedules
  • Effective communication and time-management ability
  • Visa rights to work 38+ hours or Australian Citizenship
  • A Manual C Class open drivers license
