The Role:

They are currently seeking an experienced electrical Fitter to work as part of this team. This position will see you based in an inner Sydney location with the requirement to travel to campuses in the greater Sydney region and reporting into the Electrical Supervisor you will be responsible for maintenance of Generators and other electrical related equipment across the campuses.

The Successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Conducting electrical maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification, for which they are competent and qualified within time frames specified in Work Orders to the required Work Standards and/or the standard detailed in materiel specific instructions. This may include:
  • install electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting, alternators and starter motors in plant and equipment
  • refer to circuit diagrams and use meters and test instruments to find electrical faults
  • adjust control systems and timing to ensure plant and equipment are running at peak performance
  • test, recondition and replace faulty alternators, generators, starter motors and related items such as voltage regulators and batteries
  • Knowledge of electrical generators would be advantageous
  • repair or replace faulty ignition, systems, electrical wiring, fuses, lamps and switches
  • use hand tools, specialised electrical tools, instruments and machines, including drills, grinders, presses and lathes
  • solder or weld when repairing electrical parts
  • install and repair electronic systems, parts and accessories
  • Contributing to the collaborative innovation by identifying continuous improvement initiatives
  • Notifying supervisors if they detect any additional equipment faults and briefing on all completed tasks
  • Management and accountability of repair parts and consumables issued
  • Providing feedback and technical advice to equipment operators
