Location - NSW (this role requires regular travel and working away from home)
Hours - 10 days on / 4 days off roster
About the project
The ICF fibre network is an iconic project that only comes around once in a lifetime, It involves the renewal/upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. The new inter-city fibre cable uses technically improved optic fibre cable, and architecture which will provide additional capacity between capital cities and remote communities to enhance performance and improve connectivity to regional Australia which will support the anticipated growth in bandwidth over the next 25+ years. It's a nation-building investment that benefits both those living in cities and in regional communities. The new ICF network will connect industries with increasing data requirements and potentially create more jobs in regional communities.
Primary Responsibilities
This position is a general labouring position, you will be responsible for the Installation of optical fibre cables across multiple projects, this role requires a lot of travel and working away from home on a 21-day on / 7-day off roster, this roster is subject to change in collaboration between management and staff.
Requirements
Essential
- Current Drivers Licence
- Current construction industry induction White Card
- Knowledge of reading network plans
- Knowledge of client technical manuals
Desirable
- Current HR Heavy Rigid Truck Licence
- Rod Rope and Hauling experience
- Operator & VOC Excavator
- Telecommunications experience
Key Accountabilities
Rod, Rope & Hauling
- Identify conduit capacity
- Identify blockages, using white rods and continuous rodder.
- Hauling multiple-size cables using hand and mechanical methods.
- Capture data and provide feedback to the team leader.
- Quality checks on workmanship during and after installation.
- Maintain tools, plant & equipment.
Civil Activities
- Repair blockages
- Locate underground services
- Capture data and provide feedback to the team leader

Labouring Duties
- Cut and Repair Fences
- Undertake excavation using hand and mechanical methods
- Operate company vehicles in accordance with Ventia's vehicle and plant management plans.
