Ventia is seeking an experienced SMP Supervisor to join our team at BlueScope Steel - Port Kembla, supporting a critical shutdown scope on the #6 Blast Furnace Reline Project.

This is an opportunity with strong pipeline potential beyond the initial scope, making it ideal for an skilled and experienced Supervisor with a solid structural and piping background.

About the Role

During this project you will play a key leadership role overseeing Structural, Mechanical & Piping activities within the Hot Blast and Waste Gas Heat Recovery areas and potential extension at Slag Granulation plant, managing a crew of approximately 10-12 trades.

  • Project: #6 Blast Furnace Reline
  • Location: BlueScope Steel, Port Kembla NSW
  • Duration: Minimum 3 months initially, with potential ongoing work
  • Hours: Monday-Friday: 11-hour shifts Saturday: 9-hour shift

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all site activities
  • Drive workforce productivity and efficient execution of tasks
  • Ensure quality of work meets project and client standards
  • Manage and oversee workpack's including: Hold points, Inspection requirements & Completion sign-offs
  • Monitor and report progress against schedule in coordination with the P6 Scheduler
  • Supervise and coordinate trades across structural and piping activities

About You

  • Demonstrated experience as an SMP Supervisor within heavy industrial sector or shutdown environments
  • Trade background in Boilermaking, Welding, or Piping (highly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of structural steel and piping installation (welding-focused work)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and deliver outcomes under tight deadlines
  • Solid knowledge of safety systems, quality standards, and workpack management
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
