Title - Senior Business Analyst
Location - North Sydney Office, Hybrid Working 3 days per week in office
Primary Responsibilities
The Evolve Program, is a key priority of Ventia's multi-year strategic transformation program to modernise its ERP, HR/Payroll, data and integration platforms to upgrade the legacy SAP ECC 6 environment to S4Hanna, SuccessFactors and EC Pay. A key work stream within this transformation is the selection and implementation of a best of breed Rostering, Timesheeting and Attendance that will integrate into the overall strategic platform architecture.
This role will provide end-to-end requirements ownership and leadership across the selection, design, and implementation of a Rostering and Time & Attendance (RTA) solution for a large, geographically dispersed field services workforce, integrated with SAP Payroll and SAP SuccessFactors.
The role owns the business requirements, and will be a key participantant in vendor evaluation, solution fit assessment, and payroll compliance outcomes. The Senior BA ensures the selected solution is operationally fit, payroll accurate, scalable, and aligned to SAP design principles.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience leading the requirements capture and definition for RTA solution implementations.
- Strong Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, SAP Payroll Integation and HCM Time Management & Rostering Solutions (SAP or other)
- Strong understanding of; Time wage types and schema rules, Payroll interfaces and posting logic, Award interpretation and compliance scenarios
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Proven experience with RFP and vendor selection processes for enterprise systems
- Strong experience in field services, utilities, maintenance, or mobile workforce environments
- Deep understanding of; Time capture, Shift scheduling, Payroll compliance, allowances, overtime, and other work schedule exceptions and adjustments.
- Strong documentation, facilitation, and decision support skills
Desirable:
- Experience with RTA solution implementations that support 10,000+ exployees and over 30 collective agreements.
- SAP Certification(s) in HCM or SuccessFactors and 5+ years of experience in an SAP environment
- Exposure to third-party Workforce Management solutions (e.g. Kronos/UKG)
- Experience in large enterprise or heavily unionised environments
- Knowledge of Australian, NZ, or EMEA industrial relations frameworks
- SAP Payroll time evaluation and wage type configuration knowledge
- SuccessFactors Employee Central exposure
- Experience in unionised environments
- BA certifications (CBAP, CCBA, Agile BA).
General Responsibilities
RFP, Vendor Selection & Commercial Support (Senior Accountability):
- Lead the business analysis workstream for T&A RFP and vendor selection activities
- Own the development of:
1.Business, functional, non functional, integration, and compliance requirements
2.Field based use cases and critical payroll scenarios
- Design and facilitate vendor demonstrations and proof of concept scenarios, focused on:
- Field services complexity
- Roster Scheduling
- Attendance, clocking in/out
- Award and interpratino for Payroll
- Lead functional evaluation of vendor responses and demos, identifying:
- Gaps, workarounds, and delivery risks
- SAP integration constraints and dependencies
- Provide clear, evidence based recommendations to procurement, architecture forums, and steering committees
- Support contract clarification and implementation scoping discussions post selection
Business Analysis & Operational Design:
- Own end to end requirements definition for rostering and time capture, including:
- Mobile and remote workforce models
- Travel time, start/finish locations, and site-based work
- On-call, call-outs, standby, and emergency response
- Overtime, penalties, allowances, and fatigue management
- Lead functional solution design across the T&A platform and SAP landscape
- Partner with HCM & Payroll Functional Leads to:
- Design time evaluation, wage type mapping, and payroll schemas
- Define inbound and outbound integrations for employee, organisational, and payroll data
- Validate end to end functional design from; Rostering → time capture → approvals → SAP Payroll results
- Ensuring payroll and industrial compliance outcomes
- Interpret Awards, EBAs, and employment contracts relevant to field services roles
- Ensure the solution supports; Minimum breaks and maximum working hours, Overtime, penalty, and allowance calculations, Fatigue, safety, and regulatory constraints.
- Identify risks early and escalate with mitigation options and recommendations
Test Planning and Execution:
- Partner with the Program Test Lead to validate;
- The testing strategy
- SIT and UAT scope
- Parallel payroll testing approach
- Test scenarios and acceptance criteria for complex field and payroll scenarios
- Payroll validation and defect triage
- Ensure traceability from requirement → solution configuration → test outcome → payroll result.
Change, Deployment and Adoption:
- Provide input into change and adoption strategy
- Support readiness assessments and cutover planning
- Act as senior business support during go live and payroll stabilisation periods
Key Experiences & Skills
- Lead role in solicitation and capture of requirements for a RTA solution.
- Experience in award interpretation and translation to functional requirements.
- Exposure to enterprise grade, rostering, timesheeting and attendance solutions.
- Experience with SAP SuccessFactors (Employee Central, EC Time)
- Exposure to SAP HCM (Time, Payroll)
- Comfortable operating across business, technical, and vendor teams
- Able to simplify and interpret complex requirements and enterprise agreements into clear and efficient functional requirements.
